Get Skilled stands

Dedicated Get Skilled stands offer in-depth knowledge about certain industries. You can discover new talents and try loads of different skills when you get hands-on with a Get Skilled activity.

Get Skilled 1: Get Skilled in Catering hosted by Workforce Training Services

Meet a real chef and learn how to cook some tasty treats including crab, chilli and lemon pasta and octopus salad. You might even get to try a few mouthfuls! 

Get Skilled 2 Get Skilled in Utilities hosted by Northern Ireland Water

Find out how your love of science could translate into a role that keeps water safe for people to drink. With taste and odour testing, water treatment experiments and mechanical and engineering demos. 

Get Skilled 3: Get Skilled in Hospitality and Tourism hosted by The Springboard Charity and The Institute of Hospitality NI 

Think you could make it in the hospitality industry. Find out with personality testing, try on different uniforms and get your photo taken and try your hand at towel folding and waiting skills.  

Get Skilled 4: Get Skilled in Construction hosted by CITB NI with Dawson-Wam, McLaughlin & Harvey and The McAvoy Group 

See if you can beat your friends in a time trial roof building competition. You can also take the online ‘Go Construct’ quiz to find out what job in the industry is perfect for you. Use VR equipment to see how 2D modelling works, try your hand at building surveying equipment and have a go at constructing a mini version of a £50million marine project. 

Get Skilled 5: Get Skilled in Computing and Engineering hosted by South Eastern Regional College
Have a go at game and app development and try your hand at welding with the virtual reality welder. There will also be robots, a 3D printer and a Formula 24+ car for you to experience.

Get Skilled 6: Get Skilled in Agriculture hosted by College of Agriculture, Food & Rural Enterprise 

Find out more about career opportunities in the rural and agricultural sectors. With a tractor simulator on the stand, you can see if you have what it takes to work the land.

Ambassador Hub

Ambassadors from local companies and colleges will be roaming the event and will be able to speak to other young people about their own career journeys. You can speak to our Ambassadors in the Ambassador Hub, take advantage of their knowledge and take a tour with them, learn more about their career journey’s and discover what routes you can take to your own future career.

Careers Hub

Here you can speak to the experts, and get one-on-one advice and guidance which can help you plan out what you want to do in the future.

Skills Theatre

Our Skills Theatre is always a popular feature, where you can learn more about lots of different careers from the people who are living and breathing it every day. With interactive talks about digital careers, musical and theatrical performances, sporting demonstrations and even demos on landscaping you are bound to find something that interests you on our Skills Theatre!

Live Opportunities Board

The Live Opportunities Board aims to provide you with the chance to find out about current vacancies available in Northern Ireland including, job vacancies, volunteer opportunities, traineeships, apprenticeship schemes and any other opportunities. The exhibitors post these vacancies on the Live Opportunities Board at the event for you to view. Ensure you take a look so that if any interest you, you have the chance to speak to the organisation face-to-face at the event and find out all you can about the role. This is a great way to get ahead of the competition, so don’t forget to take a look!
