Get Skilled stands
Get Skilled stands offer in-depth knowledge about certain industries. You can discover new talents and try a variety of different skills when you get hands-on with a Get Skilled activity.
Experts are always on hand to help as you learn something new and try work-based skills; the aim is to ensure each Get Skilled stand represents a different career sector so we can promote as wide a range as possible to you, the visitors.
GET SKILLED 1:
Get Skilled in Sports
Presented by Bradford College
Learn all about the sports facilities at the college as well as the extra-curricular activities available, while taking a turn in their boxing ring with Team GB and Sport England-accredited coach Mally Maclver.
GET SKILLED 2:
Get Skilled with Leeds City College
Visit the interactive zone and take yourself to another world with VR equipment and enjoy demonstrations from hair and beauty, engineering, public services, childhood and education, food, sport and travel.
GET SKILLED 3:
Get Skilled in Construction and The Built Environment
Presented by Leeds College of Building
Meet the paint and decorating team and test your creativity with activities in rag rolling, stencilling, marbling and more.
Race against the clock with the plumbing team and make sure all the pipework is plumbed and connected properly before the water starts to flow.
Get yourself out of a traffic jam, try your hand at a transport vehicle card game and see how good you are at putting together a giant road network jigsaw puzzle.
GET SKILLED 4:
Get Skilled with Keighley College
Experience demonstrations in bricklaying, plumbing, joinery and electrical. You can also drop by to watch some expert demonstrations in hair and beauty throughout the day.

The creative industry is the fastest growing sector in the UK, having grown by over 50 per cent in the past six years. Leeds City Region has a thriving creative sector full of film makers, games designers and digital agencies as well as being home to broadcaster Channel 4’s new national HQ.

The Live News Board aims to provide you with the chance to find out about current vacancies available to you in your region.
Exhibitors use this board to post job vacancies, volunteer opportunities, traineeships, apprenticeship schemes and any other opportunities.
Ensure you take a look so that if any interest you, you also have the chance to speak to the organisation face-to-face at the event and find out all you can about the role.

The Skills Theatre showcases local talent.
The Skills Theatre is always filled with live demonstrations on anything and everything from performing arts to cookery.
Activities on stands
- Try on some army uniform with Learning Curve Group.
- Think you know your surgical instruments? Test your knowledge with University of Huddersfield and see if you know your stuff. You can also find out what kind of duties an Occupational Therapist might have and how they can help patients.
- Have a go at the Zoltar machine with Futuregoals and see what the future has in store for you.
- Meet some real apprentices and have a go at some Cyber Security challenges with PwC.
