Get Skilled stands

Dedicated Get Skilled stands offer in-depth knowledge about certain industries. You can discover new talents and try loads of different skills when you get hands-on with a Get Skilled activity. Experts are always on hand to help as you learn something new and try work-based skills; the aim is to ensure each Get Skilled stand represents a different career sector so we promote as wide a range as possible to you, the visitors.

 

Get Skilled in Sports
Presented by Bradford College
Learn all about the sports facilities at the college as well as the extra-curricular activities available, while taking a turn in their boxing ring with Team GB and Sport England-accredited coach Mally MacIver.

Get Skilled With Leeds City College
Learn more about variety of careers sectors including video games industry, childcare, public services, applied sciences, health science and social care and more.
In addition:
Wednesday only: Sports science.
Thursday only: Hair, beauty, media make-up & engineering.

Get Skilled Painting & Decorating, Plumbing, Bricklaying & Transport Planning
Presented by Leeds College of Building
Have a go at different paint effects, race against the clock to ensure pipework is plumbed correctly without getting wet, follow plans and have a go at creating different brickwork bonds or see if you can solve the traffic jam in a traffic congestion game.

Get Skilled With Keighley College
Experience CPR demonstrations, BMI testing, beer goggles simulations, make slime, baby reality and an interactive construction cube.
In addition: Wednesday only: Media makeup demonstrations.

 

Careers Hub

The Careers Hub is an area is where you get the chance to have one to one advice from the experts. Topics including careers advice, interview skills, volunteering and starting your own business. Visit the Careers Hub and ask any questions you might want the answers to.

 

Live News Board

The Live News Board aims to provide you with the chance to find out about current vacancies available in  your region including, job vacancies, volunteer opportunities, traineeships, apprenticeship schemes and any other opportunities. The exhibitors post these vacancies on the Live News Board at the event for you to view. Ensure you take a look so that if any interest you, you have the chance to speak to the organisation face-to-face at the event and find out all you can about the role. This is a great way to get ahead of the competition, so don’t forget to take a look!

 

The Skills Theatre

NEW FOR 2018!

The Skills Theatre showcases local talent and will include an exciting timetable of presentations throughout the event. Please refer to posters by the theatre for more details.

 

Activities on stands

Test you animal CPR skills with Shipley College’s CPR dummy dog.

Navigate a ship in and out of a port using virtual reality with Maritime UK.

Have a go at EY’s analytical time challenged competition and be in with a chance to win a prize.

Experience being in a news studio with Capa College’s mobile news studio which includes screen, cameras & lighting equipment.

Get hands on with Medical Mavericks ultrasound and keyhole surgery simulation. Use an iPhone to look at the back of the eye and a pulse doctor to measure your pulse.

Take part in TARGETCareers Instagram competition and be in with the chance of winning a £50 Amazon voucher.

Don’t forget to visit the Go Higher in Healthcare Zone where you can have a go at surgery on an operation simulator, use a UV light to see how clean you hands really are and try on an empathy belly.
