Get Skilled stands offer in-depth knowledge about certain industries. You can discover new talents and try a variety of different skills when you get hands-on with a Get Skilled activity.
Experts are always on hand to help as you learn something new and try work-based skills; the aim is to ensure each Get Skilled stand represents a different career sector so we can promote as wide a range as possible to you, the visitors.

Learn all about Hull Colleges dedicated sports centre and courses, speak to tutors about career prospects and progression within the industry and have a go on the latest sporting equipment, including a rowing machine, treadmill and exercise bike.

Discover the miracles hospital staff perform every day and see the human body like never before, including enormous ears, huge hearts, gory guts, serious surgery, weeping wounds, terrible toes and loads more! Practice being a surgeon for a while and get to know what it feels like to be old and crinkly in an amazing simulation suit.

Learn how to prepare sausages rolls like a professional with help from the Cranswick team, watch the process of making these iconic snacks and taste the final product!

Live Opportunities Board
The Live Opportunities Board aims to provide you with the chance to find out about current vacancies available to you in your region.
Exhibitors use this board to post job vacancies, volunteer opportunities, traineeships, apprenticeship schemes and any other opportunities. Ensure you take a look so that if any interest you, you also have the chance to speak to the organisation face-to-face at the event and find out all you can about the role.
This is a great way to get ahead of the competition, so don’t forget to take a look!
Activities on stands:
- Head over to the climbing wall, hosted by The British Army to put your courage, problem solving and teamwork skills to the test.
- Drop by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s photobooth and share the images on twitter to win a prize.
- Guess the abdominal organs on a plastic model at the Wilberforce Sixth Form College stand and test your solar system knowledge by trying to find the correct planets through a telescope!
- Have a go at styling hair and giving manicures with East Riding College and understand sensory play activities with the Early Years team by playing with some gloop.
- Build a boiler and heat pump on an iPad with CAD software with Ideal Boilers (part of Groupe Atlantic).
