After a record-breaking event last year, Skills South West came back for 2019 and broke their record again with 3,219 visitors.
Sponsored by Plymouth City Council, Next Steps South West and UTC Plymouth, Skills South West is a free interactive event for 14-24-year olds, held at the Plymouth Pavilions in Plymouth on Wednesday 13th March and Thursday 14th March.
Skills South West is the largest careers, jobs, skills and apprenticeship event in the region. The show is designed to bring young people across the region face-to-face with over 50 employers, training providers, colleges, universities and professional bodies, each offering hands-on and interactive activities as well as industry insight.
Aligned with the new government careers strategy, this event allows schools to provide students with access to a wider range of career and education pathways, including access to employers offering apprenticeships in key industry sectors.
Leader of Plymouth City Council, Councillor Tudor Evans, OBE, said: “Following the success of previous Skills South West events, we are delighted to welcome them back for this year’s show, which looks set to be the biggest and best yet.”
Exhibitors have praised Skills South West for the rare opportunity it provides them to meet young people with a genuine interest in their further and higher education. Sarah Lloyd, Marketing Manager for Skills Group said: “The Skills Show is a fantastic platform to meet and engage with potential learners, parents and teachers, while showcasing all the apprenticeships we offer and how they can provide a viable alternative to the traditional university route.
We have been exhibiting at the show for five years and always receive a substantial number of new sign ups from youngsters looking to kick start their careers. We look forward to The Skills Show 2020!”
With an evening opening on Wednesday 13 March between 4.30pm-7pm specifically designed to welcome family groups, parents, individuals and groups of friends.
Skills South West will be back at Plymouth Pavilions, Plymouth on Wednesday 11 March and Thursday 12 March, 2020.
