Largest skills event in Hull raised the aspirations of more than 4,000 young people across Hull and Humber

Brand new to the Humber, Skills Humber is a free interactive event for 14-24-year olds and was held at the Bonus Arena in Hull on Tuesday 5th March and Wednesday 6th March.

Skills Humber is the largest careers, jobs, skills and apprenticeship event in the region. The show is designed to bring young people across the region face-to-face with over 40 employers, training providers, colleges, universities and professional bodies, each offering hands-on and interactive activities as well as industry insight.

Aligned with the new government careers strategy, this event allows schools to provide students with access to a wider range of career and education pathways, including access to employers offering apprenticeships in key industry sectors.

The event also allows potential employers and training providers to meet their future workforce, promote their careers, apprenticeship programmes and recruit.

With the day opening fully booked by 4,000 members of school staff and students, the evening opening on Tuesday 5th March between 5pm-7pm is specifically designed to welcome family groups, parents, individuals and groups of friends.

Councillor Peter Clark, portfolio holder for learning, skills and safeguarding children, said:

“It’s great to see such a large-scale careers event coming to Hull and the Humber region.

“It’s more important than ever that young people receive high quality careers information, advice and guidance which supports the effective transition into the world of work. I look forward to seeing events of this type and scale delivered across Hull and the Humber for many years to come.”

Skills Humber will be back at the Bonus Arena, Hull on Wednesday 4 Mach & Thursday 5 March, 2020.
