Jamie Driscoll, North of Tyne Mayor to attend Skills North East to highlight the importance of young people receiving high quality careers information.
Skills North East is the region’s largest skills, career and apprenticeship event taking place on 17 and 18 September 2019 at Utilita Arena. The event is aimed at 14-24 year olds and their key influencers; teachers, parents and carers and provides a fantastic opportunity to discover a range of career paths, traineeships, apprenticeships and higher education options under one roof.
The event will welcome visitors from all over the North East including Newcastle upon Tyne, South Tyneside, North Tyneside, Gateshead and further afield. Through interactive, hands-on activities and demonstrations, young people can experience different jobs and bridge the gap between what they enjoy doing and what they could potentially do as a career.
There will be a wide range of exhibitors at the event including local and national employers, education providers and training providers. Top exhibitors include; Cyber Discovery, Energi Coast, Gateshead College, Health Education England, Learning Curve Group, Maritime UK, National Apprenticeship Service, Newcastle College, Northumberland County Council, PwC, Specsavers, Sunderland College, Teesside University, The University of Law, University of Sunderland and many more.
Jamie, the first North of Tyne mayor, will be attending the event from 9.30am on Tuesday 17 September to take a tour of the venue, try out activities hosted by exhibitors and will give a keynote speech, highlighting the importance of young people receiving high quality careers information.
