Want to be a TV presenter? Enter “Face of Skills NI”

The organisers of Skills Northern Ireland are on the lookout for the next “Face of Skills NI” after successfully launching the exciting competition in 2018.

Skills Northern Ireland is the province’s largest skills, career and apprenticeship event, which allows young people the chance to try their hand at a whole range of careers under one roof. For the fourth year, the event will be taking over TEC Belfast in November.

As part of the event, one aspiring journalist could experience the exciting role of presenting the highlight video, which is shared widely across social media showcasing all that the exhibition offers. Watch last year’s highlight video below:

Last year, Timothee Bassett, aged 21 from Belfast won the chance to be the “Face of Skills NI” and was followed around the event by a professional film crew, while he interviewed exhibitors, visitors and VIPs. Timothee was a Broadcast Journalism HND student at Belfast Met and has now gone on to become a finalist in the Media Trust initiative “Breaking into the News” which sees him creating his own news piece for ITV News on the issues he is passionate about.

Talking about his time presenting at Skills Northern Ireland 2018, Timothee said: Skills Northern Ireland gave me key experience to expand my media career. I am now moving on to new and exciting things and can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

If you would like the chance to boost your experience in front of the camera, show off your talents interviewing a whole range of people, and get the chance to be part of a great event, we want to hear from you. Just like Timothee, this opportunity could lead to even greater things!

All we ask is that you are aged 16-24 and from Northern Ireland. You could be in school, college, an apprentice, working full-time or part-time, or be unemployed. We just need someone outgoing and friendly with an interest in following a career in the media.

To enter the competition, submit a 60 second video clip explaining why you should be the face of Skills Northern Ireland. Be as creative as possible, and show off your outgoing, approachable personality!

The entries will be judged by a panel including media professionals and PR experts. Winners will be chosen, to cover the event in Belfast on either 20 or 21 November so the winner must be available from 8am – 3pm for these dates.

The deadline to enter the competition is Friday 6 September 2019 and the winners will be notified by the end of September.
