Newcastle College exhibited with us at Skills North East at the Utilita Arena on Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 September 2019. Here’s what they said when we caught up with them to see how the event was going.
How have you found your time exhibiting with Skills England?
We came to the event feeling very well informed thanks to our relationship with Skills North East that we’ve developed from the years of exhibiting.
What have you found particularly successful during your time here?
We love the positioning of our stand as it gives us a lot of space which helps give us a lot of attention and a great buzz.
Have you engaged in any meaningful conversations with visitors? Which conversations stood out and why?
Yes, a lot of students know what careers they’re interested in but don’t know how to get there. So, it’s been great explaining to student’s what type of courses you can enroll onto and what steps you need to take to achieve your career aspirations.
Are there any activities / demonstrations on your stand that has worked particularly well?
We had some old school arcade games on our stand which worked particularly well as many young people are familiar with the direction the current gaming industry is going but have never seen where it all started.
The hair and makeup stand also worked well as the young people got to see how much work and effort goes into these professions.
How will you measure your return on investment since exhibiting?
We take the data on our iPads, put it into our CRM, inform the young person of what’s available at the college and monitor their journey.
Can you sum up the event in one word?
